The short version of why MARCO results are a starting point, not a conclusion.
Last updated: 16 October 2026
This is a screening tool
MARCO helps you screen ingredients and formulas quickly against publicly available regulatory data and AI-assisted reasoning. It is a screening tool. It is not legal advice, not regulatory advice, and not a substitute for a qualified regulatory affairs consultant or licensed lawyer.
No approval, certification or medical advice
A result labelled permitted, a score, downloaded report or workflow status is not a product approval, licence, safety certificate or permission to sell. MARCO is independent of TGA, FSANZ, ANVISA, Health Canada, FDA and other regulators. References to them identify sources and do not imply endorsement. This service does not diagnose, treat or provide medical advice.
Coverage varies by market, product category, ingredient and the inputs supplied. Missing data, omitted ingredients, national rules and unresolved classifications may change a result. Translations assist navigation; the original regulatory text prevails. Review the sources and coverage for the market you select.
Always verify against the regulator
Before manufacturing, listing, importing, exporting, or making any commercial decision, verify your findings against the authoritative source:
- Australia (TGA): the current Therapeutic Goods (Permissible Ingredients) Determination on legislation.gov.au and the TGA ingredient search (eBS).
- Australia (food): the FSANZ Food Standards Code.
- Brazil: ANVISA’s ingredient lists and supplement regulations.
- Canada: Health Canada’s Natural Health Products Ingredients Database (NHPID).
Regulations change. Determinations are reissued. New safety alerts and recalls are published regularly. Source updates can lag or fail; the regulator’s current text always prevails over our snapshot.
AI outputs are best-effort, not infallible
Our AI regulatory assessments use large language models from Anthropic. They are good at applying known rules to common cases, less good at edge cases, novel ingredients, recent regulatory changes, or anything where the underlying public data is ambiguous. AI outputs can omit relevant rules or produce incorrect reasoning or references. Review every material conclusion against the cited source and obtain qualified advice where needed.
No professional relationship
Using MARCO does not create a lawyer-client, consultant-client, or any other professional advisory relationship between you and the operator of MARCO, our staff, or our affiliates.
Marketplace
Manufacturers listed on the Marketplace are independent businesses. Listing review and verification labels cover only the evidence and scope stated; they do not establish every claim about a supplier. We do not endorse, warrant, or guarantee any manufacturer’s capability, capacity, or compliance posture. Carry out your own due diligence before signing contracts or transferring funds.
Health Icons is affiliated with the team behind MARCO. Its appearance in the marketplace is not an independent recommendation. Any other paid promotion or material commercial relationship should be disclosed where the recommendation appears.
Limitation of liability
Subject to the Australian Consumer Law and any other rights you have that cannot be excluded, the operator of MARCO is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on MARCOoutputs. See our Terms of Service for the full liability clause.
